A 2001 survey of 412 New Mexican voters revealed that four out of five (81%) oppose cockfighting and would support a state law banning it.
Abstract:
Survey results reveal that support for a state ban on cockfighting crosses geographic, ethnic, and political lines, with major support of the ban derived from:
- 84% of Anglos, 76% of Hispanics
- 80% of Republicans, 83% of Democrats, 72% of independents/others
- 77% of east side voters, 83% of south-southwest voters, 80% of northwest voters, 80% of north-central voters, 82% of Albuquerque metropolitan voters
