Short Description:
The popularity of animal attractions remains high despite concerns about animal welfare, according to a survey by Tui UK, which offers tourist excursions involving animals. The survey noted that two-thirds of Tui customers thought it was important for the company to consider animal welfare.
Abstract:
One third of the Tui UK company's excursions are animal related. In total, Tui books approximately 1.2 million excursions per year, of which 300,000 are animal related, with 200,000 alone involving dolphins. Demand for animal related excursions is high; in a 2003 BBC survey, people stated that swimming with dolphins was the number one activity they hoped to do before they died.
Tui customers are concerned about animal welfare at the attractions they visited; 32% said it was very important and another 34% said it was important.
