Short Description:
This 2004 survey conducted by The Stroke Association explored the eating habits of of 4 to 16 year olds in England and Wales, finding that "Roast" dinners are the favorite meal of 20% of respondents, and that more than half learn about healthy eating from their parents. 15% selected "Chinese meals or pasta meals" as their favorite, and 10% said "fish and chips." The survey also addressed children's consumption of fruits and vegetables in depth.
Abstract:
Among the findings, this study found that 20% of children consider "roast dinners" to be their favorite meal, while 15% chose either Chinese meals or pasta meals, and 10% chose fish and chips.
Healthy eating is learned from parents (52%), teachers (22%), and TV programs (13%).
The foods that children think form part of a healthy diet are fruits (29%), vegetables (27%), and fish (12%).
The foods that children think form part of an unhealthy diet are chocolate (33%), red meat (21%), and cheese (17%).
