More Information...

Short Description:
According to a survey conducted by the consulting firm Deloitte, two of every five consumers feel that they do not have adequate information about the food that they eat and they want additional information on country of origin and whether or not meat originated from cloned animals.

Abstract:
Consumers are spending more time reading product labels, but they would like more straightforward information to help them make better food choices.
Three-fourths (73%) of consumers would like to see a country of origin label, even if it increased food prices slightly. Even more (79%) believe meat from cloned animals should be labeled, and half (50%) said that meat from cloned animals should not be sold in the U.S. at all.
The top three consumer concerns noted were healthiness of ingredients, possible use of chemicals, and the overall safety of ingredients.
