Short Description:
A poll of 2,542 households in the UK found that 47% of those with cats had at least one person with a university degree, compared with 38% of households with dogs. This is possibly due to the longer hours associated with jobs that have higher qualifications, which can make caring for a dog more difficult.
Abstract:
According to Bristol University population estimates, there are about 10.3 million cats and 10.5 million dogs currently living in the United Kingdom. Approximately 26% of UK households include cats, while 31% include dogs.
In addition, this survey found that dog owners were more likely to be male, living in rural areas, and under the age of 55. Cat owners were more likely to be female and living in smaller or single-person households. Cats are also more common in homes with children under the age of 10 years old.
