Short Description:
Periodic survey that asks teenagers to rate a series of activities as "in" or "out, " including "being a vegetarian." Shows differences by male and female respondents.
Abstract:
33% of female and 15% of male participants considered vegetarianism to be "in."
The 18-19 year old age group felt the most positive about a vegetarian diet, over any other age group.
Most teens have chosen vegetarian diets based on environmental or animal concerns, in addition to a desire to decrease fat intake.
This article coins the term "Generation Veg" to this group of teens.
