5 Ways to Support HRC (without opening your wallet)

The economy is still in turmoil and times are tough for many people. If you'd like to support the Humane Research Council and our work to help animal advocates become as effective as possible, but aren't able to donate right now, there are still ways that you can help! Here are five quick and free ways you can support HRC by helping us build the animal advocacy movement.

1) Connect with Us Online!

If you’re hip to web 2.0 (or the internet in general), please support HRC by joining us on the various online communities where we have a presence, a few of which are listed below.

2) Spread the Word

HRC is proud that we are recognized within the animal protection movement for providing objective research and strategic insight. But we also know that we can always do more to make people aware of HRC and our free resources for animal advocates (see below). Please help us out by mentioning HRC to your colleagues, employees, friends, and fellow advocates. A few ideas: blog about our work; link to us from your website; let your coworkers know about HumaneSpot.org; and incorporate our research into your campaigns, reports, and presentations.

3) Make Use of Our Work

If you’re not already a registered user of HumaneSpot.org, please sign up today! Registration is free and provides access to more than a thousand animal-related research studies and other resources. You can also choose the types of information that interest you and have new research delivered to your inbox on a schedule that matches your preferences.

And the next time you slap your forehead and think, “I know I’ve seen some data on this issue I'm working on, but I just don't have the time for the searching and digging,” then contact HRC! If the information is out there, we are in a great position to help track it down to support your project or campaign. So shoot HRC an email or give us a call and we’ll get you started in the right direction.

Please don’t hesitate to make use of HRC when you’re struggling to compile or understand public opinions or other research. And if the information doesn’t already exist, we hope you’ll consider hiring HRC to conduct the research on your behalf!

4) Join the Conversation

Humane Thinking, HRC’s blog, includes more than 60 in-depth posts covering animal-related research and implications for advocates. We hope you’ll join the conversation by commenting on our posts and even sending us your ideas for guest blogs. We welcome other writers and bloggers who would like to reach out to HRC’s community, as long as the subject fits within our scope. Also, a relatively new feature on HumaneSpot.org is that you can now add your comments to all of the research items in our database.

5) Send Us Your Research

Despite HRC’s extensive database and the fact that we monitor hundreds of publications, we cannot possibly take note of all of the useful animal-related research that exists in the world. When you come across new research, please let us know about it by emailing or sending us the study! And if you’re a registered user, you can even submit research studies directly on HumaneSpot.org.

Thanks so much for your support!
