Now that 2009 has faded into memory, I'd like to share with you a few of the Humane Research Council's major accomplishments for the year. Thanks almost entirely to your support, we’re proud to have just completed HRC's most productive year in the nearly 10 years of our existence! And, we plan to make 2010 better yet by reaching even more animal advocates to help them maximize their efforts for animals with our strategic research.
-----------------------
Your support enabled us to accomplish a wide range of exciting goals last year. Below are just a few of our accomplishments in 2009:
- New Key Indicators Study. In 2009 HRC officially launched our “Key Indicators Study,” which involves collecting and analyzing a broad set of quantitative data to measure the state of animal protection in the U.S. Thanks to very strong interest from the study’s sponsors and individual donors, we met our initial funding goal within two months of announcing the study!
- HumaneSpot.org. HRC’s research website is the most comprehensive resource of its kind available to animal advocates. In 2009 we added 317 new research citations and external resources, 35 new analytical blog posts, and two new research primers. We also grew our user base by more than 58%; campaign managers and advocates in every corner of the movement rely on this information to perform their life-saving work.
- Client Services. As our primary focus, HRC continued serving the research and strategy needs of a wide range of animal and environmental protection organizations with our affordable services. We also provided pro bono research services for several small clients including the Vancouver Humane Society and the all-volunteer Food Empowerment Project.
- The Animal Tracker. HRC continued our landmark tracking study with the second wave of the “Animal Tracker,” designed to accurately measure the attitudes and behavior of U.S. adults. This research is generously funded by a consortium of animal protection organizations and individual advocates such as you.
- Vegetarian Businesses. We assisted vegetarian and vegan businesses by providing access to unique consumer and market research, including helping a Fortune 1000 food company develop potential offerings for a vegan market.
Do you value these services and resources? If so, please support our work with a donation -- and don’t forget to recommend us to your colleagues and friends. HRC provides discount services and a comprehensive (and free!) set of research tools for animal advocates. In 2010 we're asking for your help to get the word out about HRC’s low-cost and groundbreaking work for animal advocates.
Together we can maximize the knowledge and effectiveness of the animal protection movement.
Thank you,
Che
PS: One way to tell people about HumaneSpot.org is to forward one of our emails or research items. When logged in, just click on the orange email icon in the upper right of your screen to easily share our research with a colleague who might benefit from it. After all, informed advocates are much more likely to be effective advocates for animals.
