This interactive factory farm map depicts the trend toward industrialized farming across the United States, by state, from 1997 to 2007. The information presented includes national and state-specific statistics on the safety and sustainability of the U.S. food supply.

A graphical depiction of the price trends of fresh fruits and vegetables (+ ~32%), breakfast cereal, fish, soups, cheese (- ~17%), meats (- ~22%), and carbonated nonalcoholic drinks over a thirty year period from 1980 to 2010, which shows a basic decline in the prices of food groups considered "unhealthy" and a basic increase in the prices of food groups generally considered to be "healthy." These trends in food prices are at least partly due to artificial factors at work, including government subsidies and production efficiencies.

This data system provides information on "food availability," or the per capita amount of food in the U.S. food marketing system available for consumption. Based on data related to imports and exports of various foods, and farm and industrial uses, this system approximates what those in the U.S. consume, on average, including all food from grocery stores, restaurants, cafeterias, and other eating places.
